Ali Valdez, Founder & Academic Director (ERYT 500)
Ali Valdez (E-RYT 500) with over 15,000 teaching hours and thirty years of contemplative practice, Ali is passionate about all things yoga, philosophy and spirituality her entire life, devoting many of her studies to intellectual history, aesthetics, and comparative religious studies. Since 2000, Ali has embarked on the yoga teaching path and has developed, with the wonderful guidance of her many teachers all over the world, a system committed to bringing out the best in her students and teacher trainees. Ali has certified or created content and curriculum for several teacher training programs and has over a hundred teachers serving the yoga community nationwide. Her devotion to her students does not end after the alignment practicum and conversations about the sutras. She is with her students every step of the way helping develop their practice, deepening their spiritual pursuits, helping them become successful yoga teachers or yoga business owners. Ali has practiced a multitude of styles, and has studied with master teachers all over the world, primarily developing her yoga sadhana in San Francisco, Singapore, New York and Seattle. She is eternally grateful for the teachers that have been formidable to helping cultivate her gifts in yoga and spiritual awareness, notably John Hoge, Kathleen Hunt, Gregg Caruso, Mikhaila Stettler, Celeste Renee, Andrey Lappa, Vincent Tam, and Edward Clark.
Liz Doyle, ERYT 200 began her yoga career with Kathleen Hunt’s teacher training program, which laid a solid foundation for her further studies. Liz has studied with Andrey Lappa, the father of Universal Yoga, Theresa Elliott a local creative Iyengar teacher, Katerina Wen, completed a year- long apprenticeship with Troy Lucero, and most recently spent a month with Edward Clark of Tripsichore Yoga fame. An avid student of the practice, Liz teaches some of the most creative, challenging and fun yoga classes in the Seattle area. She understands yoga from a philosophical and alignment perspective, which complements her ability to assist students in improving their technique, increasing skills, and going deeper.
Andrey Lappa is one of the most influential thought leaders in the world of yoga, devising a comprehensive system based on centuries old traditions and techniques formulated and made accessible to the Western analytical mind. Putting science behind his teaching, plus a profound knowledge of yoga in its layered complexities, Andrey is pioneering bringing the breadth of hatha yoga to the Soviet Union, Europe, Asia and now the United States. Andrey will be joining the program from September 28-30th, 2012.
